Welcome to my new webpage. My name is Julie. My family and I are strong proponents of baby wearing. I am also a SAHM of three boys. The first two are grown and basically out on their own, but we have little Vinny still in the nest. We are homeschooling Vinny and having an absolute blast.
My husband & I loved our sling. It finally wore out so I decided to take it apart and make myself a new one. This naturally led to me making a few more new ones. My love of baby wearing, and all of it's many benefits, made me somewhat of a crazy woman. I literally chased down strangers who seemed to be overburdened with plastic baby buckets. I would thrust a sling at them and say, "You gotta try this!" I wanted to share my new found knowledge with everyone! Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. When I could get them to try it on and have them realize that they could have two hands again and take the strain off their backs, they were sold. One woman told me that she had tried everything and that her 2 month old would scream and stiffen up like she had put him into a torture device. We put him in the sling against her chest and he sighed and went to sleep. She promptly ordered a second one for her husband!
I needed a job but didn't want to give up on my dream of homeschooling the little guy for as long as he'll let me. I decided to stick with doing something I enjoy, sewing, and something I love, spreading around sling love. I am proud of the fact that my slings have made it to farflung places like Hawaii, Canada, and the Navajo Reservation.
I have since added baby hammocks or cradle hammocks to my line. A girlfriend of mine wanted one she saw elsewhere but couldn't afford the shipping from Germany or Israel. She asked me to give it a try. It was the perfect project for me because I got to use my sewing machine and the skilsaw. The hammocks turned out great. Her little boy is 11 months and about 25 lbs and still using it. The natural rocking motion is great for soothing a little baby to sleep. It keeps your little one comfortably on their back. You can hang them anywhere, inside or out. They are easy to dismantle and wash. These are custom orders only at this time.
Thanks for coming to my webpage and taking the time to read my thoughts. Please take a look around. I guarantee all of my work for up to year. Just send it back and I will stitch it back up.
I would like to end with a chapter from Parenting the Fussy Baby and High-need Child by Dr. and Mrs. Sears :
" The outside womb. being nestled in the arms, against the chest, and near the parent's face gives the baby the most soothing of all environments. Mother's walking motion "reminds" baby of the rhythym he enjoyed while in the womb. The sling encircles and contains the infant who would otherwise become agitated and waste energy flinging arms and legs around. The worn baby is only a breath away from the parent's voice, the familiar sound he has grown to associate with feeling good. Babies settle better in this "live" environment than they do when parked in swings or plastic infant seats."
Check out this happy little guy! He's my best customer.
